Your Labor Day weekend in Downtown Jacksonville can begin on Thursday with an exciting preseason game of football between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons at EverBank Field.

Don’t fret about what to do over the rest of your 3-day weekend.  Beginning Friday, the Jacksonville Landing will have food and drink specials and live music.  Start off with Jimmy Buffett-style music on Friday at the Landing courtyard.  The music continues throughout the weekend.  Visit the other restaurants and clubs at the Landing and experience the broad range of performers while enjoying the beauty of the St. Johns River. But there’s so much more to enjoy!  The Don Thompson Chorale will perform a Celebration Concert on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Jacoby Symphony Hall at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts in Downtown Jacksonville.  This is free concert includes past and present members of the Don Thompson Chorale, which will be joined by alumni from the Don Thompson-era FJC Chorales in a concert of audience favorites.  These performers spend hours just vocalizing each season in order to prepare their voices.  And don’t worry about eating out this weekend.  The “Eat Up Downtown” event has been extended for a third week.  Twelve restaurants offering specials through Sunday, September 2nd include: Chomp Chomp and Underbelly ($15); bbs, Basil Thai & Sushi, Big Pete’s Pizzeria, Fionn MacCool’s Irish Restaurant & Pub, Indochine, River City Brewing Company, Juliette’s Bistro and Vito’s Italian Café ($25); and University Club and Wine Cellar ($35).
