Dorothy Merrick is a Dig Downtown Jax blogger and moved to Jacksonville from Atlanta with her husband in January 2006. They elected to live at The Plaza Condominiums @ Berkman Plaza and Marina because of its Downtown Riverfront location, diverse lifestyle, proximity to work and walking distance to restaurants, sports and entertainment. She has served as President of the 206 member Plaza Homeowners Association since 2009.
As VP of Peachtree City Development Council (PCDC) which developed a Georgia city with the population of over 37,000 and as VP of Coldwell Banker, N.Fl. Condo Division, where she was in charge of new business activities for the State of Florida, she understands the success of mixed-use planning and living.
She has been a licensed Real Estate Broker since 1977, and is now an Associate Broker with Warren & Co. Commercial Properties, whose office is in San Marco and she holds a current Florida and Georgia Broker’s license.
Dorothy is an active leader for the improvement of Downtown Jacksonville and initiated gatherings of Downtown residents to gather quarterly to support downtown businesses. She is a current member of the District 1 CPAC and a former member of Mayor Brown’s Downtown Revitalization Transition Committee.
